Day 1, Thursday, June 15th 2017
Departure from the City hotel Ljubljana at 9 AM. The ride to Celje, “a princely town”, with a visit of the school park at the Higher School of Horticulture and Visual Arts. Later on the visit of the old town centre and the Castle of Celje. We ride further to the castle of Trakovščan in Croatia and lunch. The surrounding of the castle is designed as a theme park whereby lakes, meadows, trees and plants form a horticultural unity. The ride to Rogaška Slatina, the oldest spa resort of Slovenia. We walk through a marvellous, several times prize-awarded Spa Park to the Ana Court, housing the exhibition of glass industry, graphics and local history.

Day 2, Friday, June 16th 2017
After breakfast the ride to Maribor, a capitol of the northeastern part of Slovenia. We visit the Botanical Garden of the Maribor University whose mission is keeping and preserving of plant variety. A walk through the old city centre to Lent with arguably the oldest vine of the world. In the House of the Old Vine we have the tasting of the local wines and lunch. After lunch the ride to Vienna. A bus tour of the Vienna Ring where we see the Opera House, the Museum’s Quarter, the Mary Therese Square, the City Hall, the Parliament, the Stock Exchange, the Philharmonic Orchestra House… A walk through the old city centre of Vienna, protected by UNESCO – elegant passages, Jewish quarter, churches… We shall stroll through the Emperor’ Garden and the Folk’s Garden, and admire huge areas of planted roses, decorating numerous park sculptures. Of course we will find time to drink a coffee and taste the original “Sachertorte” in one of the traditional Viennese coffee houses. Accommodation and HB.
Day 3, Saturday, June 17th 2017
After breakfast we visit the Schönbrunn Castle and the park with its strict symmetric proportions, full of gardens, sculptures, fountains, and walking paths. We climb to the Gloriette to enjoy a nice view of Vienna. Optionally a visit of the Palm House with its extensive collection of exotic plants in a wonderful tropical greenhouse from 1882. Next to the Palm House there is a small rose garden. The ride to Baden, a town south of Vienna, renowned for the Casino, thermal tourism and the largest rose garden of Austria. First a lunch in a typical local restaurant, than a visit of the garden and parks with an expert local guide. Return to Vienna, dinner in the winegrowing suburb Grinzing. Accommodation in hotel.
Day 4, Sunday, June 18th 2017
After breakfast a walk through the park, surrounding our hotel (120.000m2) with a beautiful view on the surrounding vineyards, forests and the city of Vienna. After a light brunch the ride back to Ljubljana. (Some of the guests stay in Vienna to fly back home, others continue to Prague to visit the Czech gardens).
