Day 1, June 15th 2017

At 10 AM departure towards the Slovene coast. After about one-hour’s drive we reach the Karst Region, a landscape of extreme natural beauty such as underground caves, intermittent lakes and rivers that gave the name to similar natural phenomena all over the world. Our first stop is a small village of Kobdilj with a Ferrari garden. The garden complex was designed in the 20’s and 30’ of the 20th century under the supervision of the architect Maks Fabiani and it is the most important park landscape in Slovenia from the period between the two world wars. The park was designed for a well-known family of doctors from Trieste who owned the estate in that time. Lunch in a local restaurant and a stroll through a picturesque village of Štanjel. The Karst region is known for its local, full-bodied, mineral-filled red wine Teran that is in moderate quantities recommended even by doctors for good health. After the Teran tasting we visit the botanical garden of Štanjel. Ride to the Slovene coast, accommodation in hotel Bernardin on HB basis.
